I wrote about my goals for 2012 here and promised to do monthly updates on them.  I really, really didn’t want to write this update. February was a rough month. I got off track early in the month and just wasn’t able to recover. It’s a new month, though, and I’m ready to tackle it.

Health

  • Lose 20 pounds.  As much as I am resisting quantifying that, I think it’s important to go ahead and do it. {At some point earlier this month, I was down 14 pounds. I haven’t really been on the scale since but my clothes are still fitting the same/better so I’m hopeful that I didn’t do too much damage.}
  • Have a regular exercise regimen. I always feel so much better when I do, but I’ve been out of the habit for a while now. {Um, nothing is happening in this area. Nothing.}
  • Start therapy. I have some old issues that need working out so they can stop interfering with my life. {See above.}

Family

  • Spend more time together as a family of four.  We always let our weekends get crazy and booked up with other people and obligations. {We’ve been pretty good about this and I feel like there’s been a huge improvement in Joey’s behavior because of it.}
  • Develop a budget and stick to it. We’d like to buy a house in the next couple of years and there’s no way we’ll be able to if we keep spending everything we earn. {The budget is good.}
  • Plan monthly date nights with my husband. {I actually can’t remember if we did this. We did spend a couple of days out together looking at pound puppies, though. That’s almost like a date.}

Work

  • Decide for once and all what I want to be when I grow up and get a plan to get there. {I don’t know that I’ve made any decisions, but I have recommitted myself to finishing the web design course I started last June.}
  • Grow my Etsy business. I’d like to sell double the items this next 6 months that I did my first six months open. {I’ve been spending time working on this. I signed up for a couple of new classes/services to help build sales and it’s already starting to pay off.}
  • Find a planning system I love. I am always so scattered, but I have a really hard time finding an option I don’t hate after 3 days. {When I get off track, planning is the first thing to go. I need to spend some quality time with my planner this weekend and get it back together.}

Home

  • Get rid of the clutter in our lives. Like most people, we have way too much stuff and I am sick of it. {I cleaned out our hall closet this past weekend and it felt ah-mazing.}
  • Decorate each room in the house, starting with the boys’ playroom. I am so tired of bare, beige walls. {Sigh. I wish I had been working on this.}
  • Try at least one new recipe a week month (trying not to set myself up for failure here). {I tried a few new recipes this month, but I couldn’t tell you what they were. I must not have been that impressed.}

Blog Stuff

  • Write a minimum of three blog posts per week. I really do love writing so I need to make more time for it. {I struggled with this. There was so much I wanted to write about but I just didn’t have the focus to actually do it.}
  • Edit my Google Reader subscriptions and keep up with reading blogs I really like. Several times this past year, I had 500+ unread items in my reader. Ridiculous. {There are 600+ unread items in my reader again.}
  • Comment more on blogs I read. I’ve gotten really bad about that – not for lack of anything to say, but for lack of time to compose my thoughts. {I’m still trying to do this where I can. I’ve been reading a lot of stuff I see linked on FB even if my reader is totally neglected.}

Now that I’ve done this, I’m glad I did. It was good for me to address each one of these things and realize that I wasn’t completely useless this month. I’ve been up to things, clearly. And worth mentioning is our biggest project this month – potty training Joey. I’m not sure what the success criteria is for that, but he’s only had one {awake, 2 asleep} accident since early Monday afternoon. We’re so proud of him {and of ourselves for finally embracing the challenge}.

I hope everyone else had a great month! I’m looking forward to an awesome March – months that start out with your birthday pretty much have to be good ones, right?
