Last year, Joey and I were invited to attend a special Halloween event at the Knott’s theme park here in Orange County. It was a full day of fun beginning with breakfast and crafts, trick-or-treating, rides and a costume parade.
Since he was still on the younger side, I was a little worried that the whole event might be over his head, but it most definitely wasn’t. I feel like, if anything, that trip to the Knott’s theme park solidified his love for all things Halloween. He’s so my kid.
The Halloween activities for littles all take place in the Camp Spooky part of the park, but we did venture out for a couple of train rides – one regular, one a bit more scary. Joey really enjoyed the Camp Spooky rides, though, and could probably have spent the whole day circulating among those.
Joey’s absolute favorite part of the day (which surprised me, honestly) was the costume parade. It takes place a little later in the day and he was tired by then, but still had a blast. He loved marching around Camp Spooky with the Peanuts characters. Last year he drew the line at the costume contest, but something tells me he might do it this time around.
Being at the Knott’s theme park always reminds me of when I went there as a kid with my cousins and grandparents. They have such a long history of family fun and I love that I’m getting to share that with my kids now.
Luke will be joining us for Camp Spooky this year and I can’t wait! It’s gonna be such a blast.
